Wile E. Coyote is the villain in the Wile E. Coyote/Roadrunner cartoons made by Warner Brothers. Chuck Jones, the animation director, created the character in 1948, and Michael Maltese wrote the various scripts. Depending on the episode, Wile E. Coyote was either mute or spoke with an upper-crust Mid-Atlantic accent. In the latter case, he often introduced himself as a “genius.”
